What You’ll learn
You can sign up for one lesson or all three—each class builds on your skills and confidence at your own pace.
Lesson 1
Foundations of Sharpening: Learn the basics of knife sharpening, from setting up your whetstone to understanding angles, consistency, and pressure.
Lesson 2
Technique & Precision: Refine your sharpening technique and build muscle memory for a smoother, more controlled motion.
Lesson 3
Advanced Practice: Upgrade to different knives (like Japanese or carbon steel) and experiment with different whetstones to achieve a professional edge.

Price: $115 per class
Duration: 1 hour for 1--2 people

Group Size: 1--4 participants per household
Location: Tío comes to you with everything you need—whetstones, gloves, and other tools.
What to bring
2 dull knives to practice on (chef’s knives only).
Start with a practice knife (not your nicest blade).
We recommend using a German steel knife (6, 8, or 10 inches).
No cleavers, pairing knives, slicers, or single-bevel knives.
Please do not bring knives that are chipped, rusted, or damaged.
A notebook and pen to take notes — it will help :)

We recommend 3 to 4 lessons for best results, but you're welcome to start with 1 class if you'd like a solid introduction. Complete 3 classes and you’ll receive a free handmade knife roll!
